A sociopath generally shows more deviant behavior and moral perceptions, while psychopaths have a tendency to be cold or not care about others. To ascertain whether someone can be said to be a sociopath, it is necessary to have a psychological examination from a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Are Sociopaths Dangerous?

Until now it has been difficult to ascertain whether sociopaths are dangerous or not. That's because there is also one antisocial personality disorder that is almost similar to sociopaths, namely psychopaths. Experts believe that psychopaths are largely caused by genetic factors associated with birth defects, which makes them difficult to feel emotions. While sociopaths are mostly caused by environmental factors, mainly due to traumatic experiences in childhood. So, if there is a question which is more dangerous between sociopaths and psychopaths, then most experts answer psychopaths that are more dangerous. That is because psychopaths do not have emotions when performing actions, even actions that are very bad or terrible. Adverse effects that can occur in others, will not be considered wrong or regretted by a psychopath. A psychopath is said to have no conscience, in contrast to sociopaths who still have a conscience despite being weak. Although both of them still have the potential to endanger themselves and others.

Handling Required by Sociopaths

A sociopath needs to get an evaluation and treatment from a psychologist. The psychiatrist or psychologist will treat this condition based on the severity of symptoms or behavioral disorders in sociopaths. The doctor will provide treatments such as psychotherapy, and medication if needed. Until now there has not been found a treatment that can treat antisocial personality disorders such as sociopaths. Therefore, evaluation from medical experts is important so that the urge to undergo impulsive behavior can be controlled so that it does not endanger himself and those around him.
